The View from "6d" | Corniglia from the upper hiking path from Manarola |
At first we thought, “Oh no!” The main “sentiero” or hiking path between Manarola and Corniglia was closed due to a fire.
“But,” said our host, Andrea, from the B&B da Baranin in Manarola, “you can do the upper trail. And the upper trail is very panoramic.” So we headed up trail “6”, to “6d”, and then connected down “7a” to Cornelia.
A very hot day on a trail that is exposed to the sun for most of the hike and eroded in several spots to less than a foot wide - with a long way down if you misstep. (Do not take this trail if you have a fear of heights!)
But what a view! My god what a view! |

tini58de Thu Oct 12, 2006 20:00 UTC Corniglia was the only of the five villages that we only saw from afar! We did enjoy the Cinque Terre soooo much! | aussiedoug Mon Jul 18, 2005 11:37 UTC Buona sera Cristina. Non fortunato, io temo altezze malgrado la bella vista. Yes, unluckily I fear heights despite the beautiful view. Thought I'd better give the English version so you didn't have to unmangle it. Ciao! | EllenH Sat Jul 16, 2005 23:04 UTC I'll meet you there next time! | iandsmith Sat Jul 16, 2005 00:36 UTC Made it - first comment. You're right, awesome scenery from the upper path. Wished I'd had time to do it. |
