Two roads diverged in the woods, and I took the one with the best restaurants along the way.

Todd's Travels

by WrigleyTodd - last update: Mar 27, 2004

Welcome!

Playing chess in Salzburg
I don't travel internationally as much as I used to. In the last few years, I've been to London, Paris, Salzburg and Prague. However, in 1998 I got around. In five months, I visited 12 European countries. I know I missed a great deal by going so fast, but I wanted to see as much as possible because I didn't know when or if I'd ever be back. Plus, my time traveling Europe was a good chance for me to find the cities I love the most and then revisit them more thoroughly when I returned... which is exactly what I did with London, Prague and Salzburg. Since 1998 I've also done some more domestic traveling with several trips to NYC, as well as visits to Anaheim, California; Seattle, Washington; Boston, Mass.; Orlando, Florida; Victoria, Canada; etc. Personally, my favorite is international itinerary is to do two European cities in one week. Three or four days in one city is plenty and then taking a train to another nearby location for another three of four days makes for an exciting and diverse vacation. Plus, it allows you to make your own itinerary and vacation a bit cheaper than the completely organized tour groups.

In all my travels, I can safely say that Prague, Salzburg and London are my favorite cities -- Prague and Salzburg over London though. I like cities that just overwhelm you and make you say "yes, this is what I want to remember a European city looking like!" Prague, Salzburg and London -- while all unique -- all embody the spirit of what I consider to be true Europe. London, the mecca of all tourism and arguably the capital of the world. Prague, the character of conquered communism and intimate history and architecture. Salzburg, arguably the most beautiful city in the world with gorgeous, magical streets and everything being reachable by foot.
