I went to Isparta to take pictures of the rose gatherers. I ended up staying with some of the most wonderful, hospitalble, warm people I have ever encountered in my life.
I cannot give you any advice on hotels, restaurants, off the beaten path destinations on Isparta. I spent the entire time of my visit with this family and saw all I needed to see and much much more.
Sometimes travelling on your own is lonely but the rewards can be so big and so wonderful.
This page is dedicated to this family.
Isparta I assume has some connection to the Greek town Sparta. But I must do some research on that. The city is well known for its roses and the rose essential oil industry. At the time of my visit there was going to be a rose festival which I unfortunately missed but will definitely return to see my friends, take those pictures I never managed to take and be at the rose festival. Just the name makes you feel good. Rose festival!
The town itself has nothing exceptional or anyway I did not see it as my destination was Eastern Turkey and the road there was very very very long. And my time limited.
