Largest city of Florida's Space Coast region Overview: Despite being the largest city of Florida's Space Coast region (Brevard County), Palm Bay is essentially a suburb to its smaller neighbor, Melbourne. The fast-growing city is a typical suburban mix of neighborhoods and commercial strips that is bisected by Interstate 95. In recent years several big box retailers and other developers have built commercial buildings here with Key West-inspired architectural styles and colors. Palm Bay does stretch eastward to the Intracoastal Waterway; however, there is no real central focal point to the city. The nearest mall is located in nearby West Melbourne.
2007 Population estimates: City - 100,116 (U.S. rank #262) Metropolitan area - 536,161 (U.S. rank #92)
Nearby places: Melbourne, West Melbourne, Indialantic, Melbourne Beach, Malabar, Valkaria |
