Awale Plage is located in the small town of Grand Popo not far from the Togo border. Not much to do here except lay on the beach. In town there are some falling down colonial buildings, a Finnish-African museum (?!?), and a few places to eat. The rooms at Awale Plage consist of half a bungalow, some of the two floors. I actually preferred the one floor rooms; the upper floors could be stifling hot and hard to sleep in. They are clean, the restaurant has goos foor, and of course there is the beach!
Unique Qualities: They were building a pool when we were last there, also they have a bar built on the beach.
Every couple of days, the local fisherman bring in their catch. It is fascinating to watch.
