Royal Palace and Mekong River
The former Royal Palace is now a museum. Not too much inside, but the grounds are worth a stroll. Several temples in the compound are very colorful in a uniquely Laotian style.

The temples are what most people come to Luang Phabang to see. There are certainly enough of them to take several days worth of wandering to see. Take the time and do it!

Melisa on Phousi Mountain
You have to go to the top of Phousi (pronounced "pussy") Mountain for the view of the Mekong, Royal Palace, and the wats of Luang Phabang. Don't miss the old gun station. It's now used by kids (and adults alike!) as a toy. It was fun, look at the smile on Melisa's face!

Boats on the Mekong
Most of local life is focused on the river Mekong. Be sure to go down to the river to see how those, other than monks, live here.
