I'm a northerner who has lived all over the north. However, since I was very little, I've always gone to Sarasota Florida, almost once a year. Both my grandparents and parents live down there, so I've sort of become an expert on things down there over the past couple decades!
- Pros:Laid back for Florida, great "diamond in the rough"
- Cons:Not a really "hip" place compared to Ybor or Miami
- In a nutshell:Great place for family or relaxing Florida vacation!

I love the Blue Dolphin, I am in Sarasota on vacation twice per year and we always have breakfast here. Very nice portions, always a wait unless you are there by 8:00 am.
Jungle Gardens isn't "trashy". It's retro, baby. The birds are amzing, the snake thing is scary and the flora is sublime. Kidz love the place, too! Bring a phatty and wile away the afternoon.
