Allepo is one of the most misterious cities. Maybe I think so because I don't have enough experiance. Well, that's true, I haven't seen too many cities... But still I think that Allepo has some mistery that no other city has.
It's beautiful. peaceful and tense at the same time. "covered". city that does not show everything at your firts meeting. I think it needs some time to open it's heart to you. to start to trust you. to be sure that you are the right person whom it should show it's real face.
The architecture reminded me Gaudi style... which probably just my impression.. But there was something about colors (very monochrome but still very deep) and surfaces of the buildings and shapes which made me think about Gaudi. All the houses were like "closed" , like "covered" like women covering their faces... but I could feel the air and space beyond those covers.. that was very strange I could feel their openness and coverness at the same time...
Allepo is not an "easy" city. I could not relax there. I don't mean that this is bad. nope! But I mean that I had to be more strong and bit more prepared to "meet" this energy in this city. And I never knew what I will face there! I swear when I was going there I had no idea what I will see there! And I was all alone, and that was my first travel alone... And I must confess I escaped from this city. I just was not ready. That was too much!
I spend there only two days. and visited only citadel of Allepo. I know I missed most of everything there. and I regret. But I dont blame myself. I could not resist that "strong beauty" of this wonderful city!
