We travelled over to Amsterdam via the North Sea Ferry, which departs from Hull and you arrive in Rotterdam the following morning.
From there, it is a 1.5hr coach transfer to Amsterdam Central Station. You have until 6pm for the return coach to explore.
In Feb, it was just 2 or 3 degrees, and the biting wind did prevent as much exploring on foot as we would have liked. |
| Canal boat trips are very popular |
| | Highlights As we only had one day, and we had 2 young children (who do not enjoy visiting museums), we decided to spend our time getting a feel for the place by: * Lunch at The Pancake Bakery (restaurant tip) * Boat tour around the central canals (must do tip) * Foot tour of the central Amsterdam area (including red Light District & Coffee Shops) * Shopping for our favourite Belgium chocolates, Leonidas (shopping tip).
More details about these can be found under the tips section. |

leecouk12324 Mon Nov 12, 2007 12:18 UTC It really can be very cold in Winter. Managed to get a decent jacket however from the markets there. My tip is be extremely careful of pickpockets here and especially around markets etc | pieter_jan_v Wed Feb 16, 2005 18:29 UTC Looking forward for your tips. PJ |
