Cape Town's only floating restaurant - Cape Town
SEA HORSE: Cape Town's only floating restaurant

For a different view of the city, why not take a dinner cruise through the Victoria Basin, Duncan and Ben Schoeman docks.
They offer a 3 course a la carte menue and live band.

Cruises sail subject to weather conditions - seems to be restricted in very windy conditions

On The Rocks: Great Views , great food

Tucked away in a corner or Blouberg you'll find this little gem. Don't be fooled by it's appearance of being pricey, we were pleasantly surprised by the prices and fare on offer.
Once inside, you'll be blown away, not by the howling southeaster outside, but rather by the breathtaking views from within. Uninterrupted views of Table Mountain, Robben Island and Table Bay are a treat from the restaurant situated on the waters edge.

Favorite Dish: Seafood Platter, there are 3 of them ranging in price from R120 to R550

Address: 45 Stadtler Road . Bloubergstrand

Comparison: about average

Directions: From the N1 onto Marine Dr. Proceed along Marine into Otto Du Plessis Rd and then through Milnerton. Once you reach Table View take a left into Marine Drive, then follow into Beach Rd & turn left into Sir David Baird Rd. Follow that into Stadler Rd.

Salmon - Cape Town

Salmon

Tides: Fine dining at its best

From the minute you enter this restaurant you'll realise you're in for something special.
Because of it being part of a 5 star hotel, not many locals are aware of the treat that awaits inside.
This is the place to go for that special meal - away from the hustle and bustle of your average restaurants, at a price that will surprise you.
They have seasonal menues and one can choose a 2 course meal for R125 or a 3 course meal for R165.
Once seated you are presented a complimentary appitiser while you browse the menu
and comprehensive wine list.
Sorbet ( to clear the palette) is served between courses.

Favorite Dish: I usually have a preference for seafood but their fillet was brilliant as well.

Address: 69 Victoria Road Camps Bay

Cape Town Hotel School Restaurant: A taste of the future???

This place will always be special to me as it is located at what was once the Merchant Naval Academy I attended as a youngster.
As it's name suggests, it is now the training ground for youngsters entering South Africa's fast growing hospitality industry.
The fare dished up is of a very high standard, presentation is good and prices pretty reasonable. The location is great with a beautiful view over Table Bay.
The Sunday buffet carvery @ R85 pp is very popular and it is a great place to relax with a sundowner.
Booking is essential an the venue is popular for office functions, weddings etc.

Favorite Dish: Too many to single one out

Address: Beach Road - Mouille Point

Comparison: less expensive than average

Directions: From the V&A Waterfront (Sea Point exit) turn right into Beach Road. As the road curves just past the Raddisson Hotel you will see the gate on the RHS

Zero 932: Just Relax and watch the world go by

We recently discovered this gem offering excellent food and great service.
They specialise in Belgian food and beers (excellent variety of imported beers)
Seafood aldo features prominently on the menu - especially mussels

Favorite Dish: Their grilled Kingklip is the best I have had anywhere.
Having grown up on the West Coast, fish is always a firm favourite of mine.
Maritha really liked their chicken kebabs as well. (She's allergic to seafood unfortunately)

A Cape Town favourite - Cape Town
Blue Peter Hotel: A Cape Town favourite

Although it's called The Blue Peter Hotel, It's not really that.(to us locals anyhow)
Although I've listed it as a restaurant, it's not really that either although they do serve light meals.
The Blue Peter is the place Cape Townians go to chill out as the sun sets over Table Bay.

Grab your favourite drink at the bar then find your spot on the terraced lawn and relax as the sun sets over the bay. Bring the whole family (including the dogs)
This is what Cape Town is all about!

Favorite Dish: Only light meals served - The sunsets are the speciality!

Awarded the Platinum award for their wine list - One of only 22 hotels nationwide to receive this honour!

Address: Blouberg Strand

Comparison: least expensive

Directions: Right on the beachfront - Just ask the locals.

Phone: +27 21 554 1956

Price: less than US$10
