Wow, how great it was to be here. everything I saw in this island was so "out of everyday life"! I met many other travelers and we drunk "Mitake" together (Japanese Vodka of this island), got into a hot spring in the ocean, and etc....
This island is famous for its Jomon sugi (ceder tree of at least 3000 year old) and can be reached by Ferry from Kagoshima (3~4hours one way).
To get to Yakushima, you can take a ferry from Kagoshima, which leaves at 8:35am and takes about 4 hours one way. The scenary is beautiful and the ship is big and cozy! I highly recommend this if you have time.
This is the famous ceder tree of Yakushima. It is thought that the age of the tree is 2000~7000 years old!!!(What a wide range guess?!). The tree is located at about 5m behind me, thus it is actually much bigger than it looks in the photo! (Click on the photo to see the whole thing!)
