Is the Subway free?
Ahh, Vienna in the summer: scaffoldings, cranes and throngs of tourists. No really, Vienna was unbelievable. We got there thinking we would stay for two days and then move on to Graz, but as soon as we stepped off the subway we knew we would need more time.
We had a blast in Vienna. Between shopping, swimming in the Danube, coffee houses, Schönbrunn Palace and taking in every other sight possible, we barely had time to sleep.
We stayed in a pretty big hostel at Friedrich-Engels Platz, just a short subway ride from downtown. And speaking of the Subway, we somehow managed to ride for four days with out buying a ticket or getting caught without one. |

themajor Mon May 30, 2005 23:25 UTC Useful advice about the 'caped crusaders' swarming over around the Opera House and Stephansplatz! Oddly enough, I have yet to be stopped by them - perhaps I look vaguely Austrian? Hiding my tourist map whenever striding purposefully past them helps! | rexvaughan Sat May 22, 2004 22:34 UTC I am in process of building my Austria pages and love yours. It is hard not to fall in love with Vienna and Salzburg. | patrikske Sun May 9, 2004 02:34 UTC Excellent Vienna page ! | Nathalie_B Sun Apr 11, 2004 10:19 UTC While living in Europe I should definitely take the opportunity and travel as much as possible. Thanks for "showing" me Vienna, it has been on my wish list for a long time. Very interesting tips here. |
