The Festival Internacional de Benicassim is now in it's 13th year and shows no signs of closing down.
The festival is particularly popular with the British crowd, as well as French, German, and of course, Spanish....
F.I.B. takes place now in July (having been held in August until last year) and ticket sales usually begin in the preceeding December. There are four days of music and entertainment, for which it is possible to buy a
one-day pass for any day
three-day pass or
four-day pass... also giving full, inclusive, access to the campsite facilities.
The campsite(s) are open from the Monday, the music events begin on Thursday and continue through until Sunday. The campsites close on the following Tuesday.
If you prefer the luxury of hotel/apartment type accomodation, please note this is a huge festival, and so it's popularity means they are often booked up very early in the year... and not least that prices may increase. Likewise, it is recommended to book flights as early as possible. In my experience, they only ever increase in price nearer to the event, so last-minute discounts may not be worth holding out for.
For airports, Valencia is the nearest to Benicassim, about an hour's drive away (buses available, or rail travel). Coming from north of Spain, Barcelona is another good airport option, linking with a train all the way to Castellon (a town next to Benicassim). It is well recommended that you pre-book your train ticket if you choose this option. (www.renfe.es)

If you like water, and waterparks... then go to Aquarama. Open from June to September, this is a place for families and big kids alike. Plenty of aquazooms and other water features to keep you busy all day long, and a great big shower cave to blast you with cool water when the sun gets too hot!!
Prices:
Range from 8.50€ - 17.00€ per person
-depending on age (child/adult/pensioner ....children under 0.9m tall get in free)
-and time of day... prices are reduced after 16h00 (when the sun will also be less fierce too!). Also discounted prices for those in groups of 20 or more.
Tips:
- bring your own food if you can... there is some available but nothing special. Drinks available include locally-produced horchata though (refreshing tiger-nut milk drink) and that's well worth a try
- don't forget your water resistant suncream (I recommend P20, which is more of an oil but has good protection even for sensitive skin) and a t-shirt to cover up in... in all the fun and excitement it can be easy to forget the strong effects of the sun, especially you are waiting in queues, or simply being blasted by strong water and rinsing off the cream you've just applied!!
