Nightlife Spot: Taberna de Embajadores
This large taberna has a lively mix of people regularly popping by, and the staff are always happy to welcome all who pass through the doors....
A good pitstop for a couple of copas, with complimentary tapas... To drink I recommend trying out the cerveza negra if you want something different or perhaps una jarra de sangria and to eat, the following raciones:
- patatas mixtas (with both bravas and ali-oli salsas) 3,50€ (plenty to share for 3 people) - ensalada de tomate, queso y manzana 3,00€ (tomato, cheese and apple salad) - tumaca de salmon 2,50€
If you like football, you will also find here the major matches played - on TV and a large screen, especially Atletico and Real Madrid.... other entertainment here includes table football and American darts, a random mixture of music (anything from ABBA and pop to trance... a rare find in Madrid) and a good fun vibe from the friendly bar staff!!

Nightlife Spot: El Diablito
This place is funky and vibrant... in the heart of the Chueca zone, where there's a buzz all around. Set in a long bar/restaurant, surrounded by warm orange backlights interspersed with zebra print walls, this is a great spot for a good bite to eat/share (great-tasting pastas, salads, generous pizzas and fantastic desserts to be tried, tested and of course shared!!)... of course if you prefer to stick to the drinks, the cocktail menu is well recommended... sit back in the lounge sofas and low tables and listen to the tunes spinning out from the DJ of the night.
A great place for people watching, a nice opportunity for a seat and chat with some space which is rare in most bars in Madrid.
Nachos are to be avoided here, as they are quite disappointing value and you can find much better in the neighbouring mexican restaurants, a couple of streets away.
Food served until 02h00, copas (drinks) until 03h00
Copas: 6€ Cocteles: 8€
Free wi-fi connection is also available here.

Nightlife Spot: El Tío Vinagre
El Tío Vinagre is tucked down a small side street in the multicultural Lavapies zone of the city. It is small but comfortable, and offers a range of infusions, copas, and tapas.
Staff are pleasant, and there is a small seating space at the back. Flyers with the latest info on music events, both locally and throughout Spain are also dotted around. Also often displaying photo exhibitions and selling a small selection of handmade jewellery :)
Reasonable prices - Mojitos from 4.50-8.00€, Tapas, mainly tostas (open-topped toasts) start from 3.50€ ...and are very tasty indeed (especially those with queso azul, blue cheese!!)

Nightlife Spot: Pryce
Pryce is a pleasant café. With Cuban proprietorship, it is bright, modern and simple, with a good vibe feeling that all those who pass through the doors are welcome in.
With lighting that mimic natural daylight, the ambience is easily enjoyable by day, night and through all seasons (especially in cold winter months); a welcome contrast to other madrid bars which tend to be very dark indeed or so bright you catch a suntan indoors!
Late evenings show a more relaxed dimming of the lights with candles :)
Food and drink recommendations:
desayuno - breakfast:
café con churros 2,30€ mediterranéo: café y tostada con tomate y aceite de oliva - coffee and tumaca (toast with tomate and olive oil - delicious!)
café/té
a good range of coffees and teas...
zumos - juices
some fantastic freshly made juices, which must be tried! zumo habanero (de mango y limón) ....mango and lemon 3,50€ zumo sergi (naranja, plátano, piña) ...orange, banana, pineapple and others, to include frutas de temporado - seasonal fruits
cocteles - cocktails here are worth checking out too!
tostas - open topped toasted sandwiches ...especially salmón 4,00€
*On a budget tip:* one point worth noting, is the small price increase if you choose to eat/drink outside en terraza or arrive at night (after 21h00).

Nightlife Spot: Honky Tonk
Honky Tonk is a great little groovy venue for live music, offering mainly rock and blues in a good-feel vibe....
There´s a bar upstairs with the music and another bar downstairs. Watch out for the copas though - it can be a little pricey!
