hi. i have spent 6 (2000 & 2004) months in dubai. i was drumming in a band at an international restaurant/bar. dubai was good, but a little boring after a while....a good place to spend a week, but maybe not 2 months lol. safe to eat anywhere.....if you are a meat lover then this place is heaven. all meals were large, lots of meat, hommus and vegetables. a must do is to go to a cafe and smoke shisha/hooka. wicked fun :-) best tobacco to smoke is double apple. also order this layered fruit smoothy.....'yummy' and also a turkish/arab coffee. smoke the shisah as bill clinton would....don't inhale ;-) avoid july/august, too hot! weird seeing thick fog at night when it is still 38c also jump on those little boats that ferry people across the dubai creek/river. only costs about $2.00dh from memory, but the operators will test you out by asking for 10 or 20 dollars. |

Sininen Sun Mar 19, 2006 11:07 UTC Hello Doug! Interesting page on UAE. I wonder what happened if a foreign woman picked up a local man. Am not going to try...just a thought. Desert walk sounds more like me. Happy birthday from Finland, Sini | Incubus30 Wed Dec 29, 2004 14:51 UTC Good tip about picking up in Dubai , always good to keep it in mind :) |
