Rouen

Rue du Gros Horloge, Rouen
This is Rouen, in the Normandy region of France. It's a great pedestrian city and has the feel of a big city without being as busy and potentially overwhelming as, say, Paris.

Rue du Gros Horloge. This is Rouen's busiest pedestrian area. Great place for shopping and people-watching. Don't worry - there aren't any cars on this road. This street is really quiet lovely as the sun goes down - or maybe this was on a Sunday, a very quiet day in Rouen (or in Europe for that matter, haha).

There is a pretty large student population in Rouen which gives it a lively atmosphere.
Rouen street
Cobblestone streets, old wooden beams on the buildings, cathedral spires to guide your way... it really is a beautiful city. It's a great mix of old and new - old on the timbered buidings, while the new shops and stuff are on the ground floor.
Rouen at night
The older part of Rouen is beautiful at nighttime. I love the way the night lights hit the old buildings and cobbled streets.
Rouen is safe, relatively quiet, and fun at all times of the day, but particularly so at night. I love the way the streets are lit on the old timbered buildings and on the cathedral.

Pros:"Lively atmosphere, beautiful architecture, plenty of shops/bars/restaurants/cafes"
Cons:"It rains often"
In A Nutshell:"The Joan of Arc association is the least this city has to offer"
