The Hashemite KingdomAs King Abdullah Hussein is quick to point out - Jordan is one of the safest countries in the Middle East. That may not be the most comforting statement, considering so many other of the volatile countries in that region against which Jordan is being benchmarked - but I found Jordan to be peaceful and accomodating. I believe this is a major reflection on its Leadership.
Long before the current young Hussein was made monarch in an unexpected, last-minute move by the late King Hussein - Jordan has shown increasing flexibility toward its neighbor to the northwest, an openmindedness and yes - even goodwill - to those of us in the West. Respectful tourism is welcome and encouraged. |

Hello Beaudoins So yes -if you're interested in going to the Middle East but you're a little uncomfortable with the political environment there, please consider visiting Jordan. It's a wonderful country whose ancient beaudoin hospitality is alive and well - both in the desert and in the city.
