"No temple made with hands can compare with Yosemite"

The great American naturalist John Muir wrote that. He was the driving force behind the establishment of Yosemite back in 1890 - one of North America's most beloved of national parks.
All that is Yosemite

Whether you're gazing upon the 2,700 year old Grizzly Giant (the oldest knonw sequoia tree in existence today) in Mariposa Grove, or hiking BridalVeil Falls - if you're scaling El Capitan or marveling at Yosemite Falls; you can be transfixed by Half Dome at sunset or just quietly introspecting among the grasses of Yosemite Valley....

....Yosemite National Park will grab your heart and humble you, move you to tears, and put joy in your heart ... the kind of joy that makes you glad to be alive to feel the sun on your face and the wind at your back.
Yosemite Factoids

--> American photographer Ansel Adams immortalized Yosemite with his famous black and white landscape photographs

--> Yosemite means "grizzly bear" in Native American Ahwahnee

--> Half Dome rises up 8,842 feet

--> El Capitan is the largest single granite rock on earth - rising 350 stories from the valley floor....TWICE the size of the Rock of Gibraltar

--> Yosemite Falls are the highest waterfalls on the continent at 2,425 feet

--> Yosemite Falls is divided into Upper Yosemite Fall, middle cascade and Lower Yosemite Fall - at its most dramatic in spring and early summer, and drying to a trickle by end of summer

Times to Go:

...mid-August: you'll see the Perseid meteor showers
...late Oct-Nov: you'll see peak Autumn foliage
...November-Mar: experience the least amount of visitors

Nice page on Yosemite with good information. There’s nothing like the tall trees and waterfalls of the Sierras.

Bummer! I should have read your page BEFORE I went to Yosemite! I wouldn't have missed the meteor showers!
