  • Restaurant Name: Al Saraya

The Al Saraya is the main restaurant in the Movenpick Petra Resort. The menu features their famous buffets and a la carte faire.

Favorite Dish: The buffet, whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner, was AMAZING and BOUNTIFUL. International, Middle Eastern...you name it, they had it and all of the food was FRESH.

We just really feasted and feasted and felt so privileged to do so in such a lovely atmosphere.

Again, it just felt like we were in the middle of a vacation WHILE being on vacation.

Great experience here, with wonderful staff.

Al Baraka Tea Room: Tea with Lawrence of Arabia?!

Mmmmmmm....not only was tea on the menu, but coffee and wine. In the winter, there's a lovely fireplace roaring - NOT that it's so cold, but it does get nippy in the desert. It was like a dream to have spent all day exploring Petra, enjoy a delicious dinner, then wander leisurely into the Tea Room and settle down in a comfy chair by the fire while the Host provided some local history...he was so professional and attentive.

Oh - and the decor was fantastic - dim lighting and a real desert mood, with Lawrence of Arabia theme. It sounds cheesy but trust me, it was fully authentic and tastefully done.

    We LOVED!!!!

Favorite Dish: Did I mention the TERRIFIC pastries?

Sadly for us, we were not able to experience first hand (though we saw it of course) what it is to unwind at the end of the day and catch a sunset from the rooftop garden here....

...my husband was really excited when he learned they offer the narghila pipe (open air) but we soon learned the Al Ghadeer Roof Garden is not open during the winter months - only the summer months! Too bad for us (though we enjoyed the Al Baraka Tea Room inside).

I can tell you the decor was very Arabic and charming. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are served here, along with pastries and light snacks.
