The Promenade: Take a Stroll Along the Beachfront Promenade

  • Take a walk along the Promenade and have a cold drink or coffee while you watch the residents of Tel Aviv go about their daily life.

    Look out for joggers!

Tel Aviv Beaches: Hit the Beach!
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Nobody loves beaches like the residents of Tel Aviv. They love their warm Mediterranean water, they love their beachside cafes, and they love the sunsets that fall over the city like a perfect close to the end of a day.

We didn't have a chance to see these fabled sunsets but we'll include them on our next visit.

    Rabin Square: Yitzak Rabin Memorial
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • It took three visits to Israel for me to finally pay my respects to Prime Minister Rabin, I'm ashamed to say. Thanks to Sharon, we made a point to go to Rabin Square (named after him posthumously) one evening, which made the memorial seem that much more haunting under a cold night sky. It was hard to hold back the tears.

Yitzak Rabin won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1994 for his participation in the Oslo Accords and for his tireless work and vision toward a rapprochement with the Palestinians. Contrary to what some mistakenly believe, Yitzak Rabin was not killed by a Palestinian - he was assassinated in November of 1995 by a radical Israeli dissident - which in some ways makes this senseless death even more tragic.

The legend on the memorial stone reads "Peace Shall Be His Legacy".

HaCarmel Market: Explore the Outdoor Market
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • You'll be treated to a kaleidascope of colors and aromas as you drift through this busy market. It pulsates with life.

Whether you're looking for clothing or produce, juices or cosmetics, you're bound to find it in this market which seems to extend forever.

Nachlat Benjamin: Stroll along the Pedestrian Mall
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • This is one of Tel Aviv's main areas for people watching and just general strolling around in a bohemian kind of atmosphere.

You'll find street performers and vendors selling jewelry and local crafts and keepsakes.

It's definitely a great place to feel the vibe of the locals and get a groove on Tel Aviv.

Things To Do: Suzanne Dellal Arts Center
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • A theatre, music and dance complex amidst the serenity of manicured gardens. There's a great little pub/cafe inside the entrance which is where you'll find the locals hanging out during intermission. It's nice to walk around the grounds at night.

The Suzan Delal Center is home to Israeli dance companies and proud host to visiting artists as well.

Btw - we danced salsa and merengue the night we stopped in for a drink. Kept us on our toes and woke us up from the jet lag of having arrived after a 12 hour transatlantic flight the previous day!

If you are ever stuck in TYel Aviv on a Friday evening you must got to Molly Bloom's Irish Pub. Sounds corny but they have great bee and great prices and great music.
