Take a walk through the artsy fartsy neighborhood of Monmartre, home to the Sacre Couer cathedral. You may be dissuaded to come here by well-meaning French people or tour guides concerned about how it's dangerous there at night...ignore them. You can't go to Paris and not sit at a cafe and absorb the old artist atmosphere in Monmartre. Would you go to the City of Lights and not visit the Eiffel Tower?

TravellerMel Thu Mar 5, 2009 04:30 UTC What a lovely story! I do hope you contact Christine again - and when you do, you can tell her that she has touched the hearts of many VTers! | Nemorino Fri Sep 12, 2008 22:21 UTC I enjoyed reading your story of your encounter in Paris. There is so much to see, more than just two eyes can take in, so ideally every visitor should have a companion to point out how lovely the presentation of the white asparagus is in the shop windows. | travelinxs Tue Mar 25, 2008 19:30 UTC A lovely story Michele - thanks for sharing. Restores your faith in strangers. Cheers. | kikalena Sat Feb 2, 2008 17:34 UTC What an amazing encounter!! It was a real pleasure to read the story!!!
