The picture is at Phang Naa bay which is known locally as the James Bond Island. This was the hightlight for me. A day trip out to the island on a sea that is dead flat, no waves, just endless limestone islands rising straight out of the water. A day trip usually involves stopping somewhere for lunch on a remote island and diving with endless beautiful fish on coral reefs. Take your sunscreen !!! |
| | Phi Phi islands Also known as Koh Phi Phi (Koh means Island in Thai). This is only about a 45 minute road from Phuket, but if you are staying in Patong, you have to get all the way over the other side of the island, which my pickup tour did ok. Phi Phi was also a Bond island and is not as commercialised as Phuket although the number of pleasure boats in teh bay may not convince you. I did a dive trip from here and the water was beautiful, clear with lots of tropical fish although a lot of the coral reefs have been damaged by souvenir collectors. |
