I did a short trip to the Philippines last year and loved what I saw. I stayed in Quezon city for a while and then went down to Cebu, which is just fantastic. The beaches and the water in Cebu are as clear as the streets are dirty in Manila.
Whilst in Cebu a local guy, Duey Jr. took me out for a seafood lunch, which was the most brilliant seafood meal I have ever had. The crabs were the size of small cows and the shrimp were the size of whale. I couldnt believe the taste. The only offputting thing in the whole experience was the armed gaurd on the door while we ate.
The pic is of a local bus/taxi called a Jeepney. Locals jump on and off the back and pay the conductor who hangs out the back door. Very cheap and a fun way of getting around although I never worked out how the hell you knew where they were going.
