"Shasta Caverns" Mount Shasta by rdywenur

Mount Shasta Travel Guide: 46 reviews and 165 photos

Shasta Lake located just outside of Redding, Ca. has a great cavern to explore. I lived most of my life growing up in Utica, NY and there is a great cavern not far from there(Howe Cavern ) but still haven't visited it. This was my first.

Hold On..............

They didn't warn me that the ride would be so steep. To get to the Shasta Caverns we had to take this bus. And they didn't warn me we would have a comedian for a bus driver. "Okay everybody.....lean to the right...okay now lean forward. (I didn't dare look to my left. Just over my shoulder was a huge drop off the mountain. I'm afraid of heights)

Did I mention I kissed the ground when I got off the bus? All in all it was a fun trip and well worth the ride of your life up the steep narrow path to get to the cavern. (dont forget to check out must see activities for a peek inside).

Okay Dick, ..........I went all the way to the top and still did not find those "Golden Pines" you talked about. :P
