Brugge on a Saturday

A day trip to Brugge with Hubby

My love in Brugge
We took the train from Brussels for a day trip to Brugge just to see what there was... as my mate Mvann4 says... "a photo opportunity on every corner*... well he wasn't wrong. It's a super little place to visit, plenty to see and do, and a blessed lack of cars with their fumes.

We walked around all day and had a lazy lunch in Thof van Rembrandt with of all things, a warm wine served in a teacup with sugar.... now that really DID chase the cold away and a nice alternative to room temperature red with the rather delicious lasagne.

We found a street market which kept me happily occupied for an hour or so with the added bonus of gazing at the leaves of the trees just turning into their Autumn glory...

Horse carriages, lace, chocolates, cakes, lovely little streets, nice tree lined walks..... we had a great day

Wandering around Brugge

I think what pleased me most about Brugge was the quiet walks and beautiful scenery... it reminded me of our student days in Cambridge which brough back happy memories...
Trees in Autumn

Autumn colours

Wandering around in a haze of love and warm red wine makes everything look great doesn't it?

Trees are wonderful things.... sigh

Sue, lovely little page about Brugge here. I once visited the city about 25 years ago with my parents but don't remember much. I would like to get a Belgian chocolate right now.

You must try next time to stay overnight. Brugge is really special when all the tour groups leave.
