Please, whatever you do, cross the streets at the signals where it is safer. Everyday there is some tourist that gets hit by a car and I know you don't want to spend your vacation in the hospital. Just remember, most of the people that are driving on the strip have been drinking. Please, just be aware of your surroundings and watch for cars.
