"Munchen" a Munich Travel Page by tyerks

I would have to say Munich was one of my favorite places in Europe, but then again, if I say that, then I start listing off pretty much every other place that I've been, except Amsterdam, as my favorite place as well. Let's just say, I love Munich, and I had a blast there!! FINALLY~~ Pictures are up!!!!

There are a few things I discovered in Germany, that I thought I should pass on to fellow travelers. I was never a beer drinker, but my sister told me that I had to have beer in Germany, and since we were there for a couple of week, I had to have a lot of beer. So, I discovered a great drink that they have over there. It's for the non-beer-drinkers, like me. It's called a Radler -- a mix of beer and sprite. As our Mike's Bikes tour guide called it, the evil drink. "They take half of a perfectly good beer and dump it out and put sprite in it." But, hey, if you aren't a beer drinker, you might like it. There is also a better drink, called a Russen, which is wheat beer mixed with sprite. I happened to like this one a little bit better than the radler.
Another thing at issue here is food. Try Spatzle. It is soooooo good. It's just egg noodles, either plain, with some mushroom sauce, or with some other sauces. Every time I ordered it at a different restaurant, I got a different sauce, but it was always good!
On the other hand, one thing I recommend staying away from is "wurstsalat" My sister and I went out to eat at a random restaurant our first night in Munich. It just so happened, that the menus were all in German, no English. We tried to decipher what it would be, thinking it was a salad with some sausages in it. So, my sister ordered it. What she got was a plate full of what looked like mini-bologna (wurst) topped with a pile of onions (salat). It was definitely the worst salad she ever had! But, if you like that type of food, you might like it, but be forewarned, it is not a salad.
