I am a middle - aged woman/mother who worked in the medical and travel industries before venturing off to teach English in China. I have been to many countries around the world and lived in Bolivia for a year and lived in Dalian, China for one year. Next month I am going to Xian for 6 months.

I recommend Future/Aston English school. It is run as close to an American school as the Chinese will allow.You are always paid on time and although their are many bureaucratic problems with all schools there, I think it is the best of the worst. Remember this is China! A country that is developing rapidly with their doors newly opened to the world.

I found the kids to be great, kids all over the world are much the same. Kids here are under a lot of stress due to competition and at the same time are lazy and just want to play. They are given little if any time to do this.

Any one over the age of 50 is old school and survived the Cultural Revolution and any one under 25 are only children, unless the youngest in their family, and have been spoiled by parents and have also been very quickly exposed to the rest of the world. They are a great friendly people, but are struggling to find the ways of the world as we know it.
