Hi there this place is a real trip, the population is mainly muslim it has a strong middle eastern vibe which is apparent in there clothing and alot of the music everyday folks seem to listen to,off course theres always reggae and the usual fun stuff at pubs and bars, apparently the arabs controlled alot of the ivory and slave trade from here during the 19th century later on the british got involved abolishing the slave trade and missionaries set up schools etc, today its mainly a fishing port . |
| | As with most places you go the kids are always in high spirits and make you laugh,There doin backflips down at the waters edge or trying to shoot you with there toy gun .:) |
| | It realies heavilly on tourism here and is set up well for backpackers, getting around these streets is almost maze like and you could easilly get lost.Theres great markets here and clothes etc are very cheap its a must do whilst in zanzibar. |
