Jambo in Mombasa | White Sandy and Palm fringed beaches in Mombasa! |
The town of Mombasa is a major sea gateway for eastern Africa and is Kenya's oldest and second largest metropolis.
A spectacular coral reef, uninterrupted for 480 km, runs along the palm fringed coastline.
The waters below team with marine life while up above a huge diversity of birdlife occupies the mangrove forests or overhanging cliffs.
The beaches of Kenya have become one of the world's great playgrounds, with plenty of opportunities for water sports or simply sunbathing. More than half of the country's international hotels are based along the Coast.
The most lingering memory for me was lying in the sun on their pure white powdery sady beaches.... a stress releaver par excellence. |

| | On landing at Mombasa airport, and as we made our way through the bustle and polution of Mombasa's City center, I had no idea what to expect when arriving at our hotel.
Needless to say when we arrived at the hotel to be greeted with a friendly "Jambo" and a drink from a fresh coconut, followed by the short walk along the most beautiful garden setting to our rooms, I knew it was going to be fantastic! |
| | Getting an insight into the Masaai people was also interesting, and I throughly enjoyed there dancing and jumping routines, along with the entrancing huming melodies they made.
Man some of those boys can jump!!!! |
