Venice is everything that I expected and a lot more, the Canals, winding narrow streets, shops, crowd and romance. This is the city I wanted to visit for a long time and I am finally here, "Hello Venice".
Venice is the only city of its kind in the world, the city was built on 118 islets in a lagoon 2 ¾ miles from mainland and linked by a road and rail causeway. Buildings are supported by large poles driven into the sediment. Cars are almost non-existent. The city is criss-crossed by 177 canals and spanned by 450 bridges. However, the city does has it’s problem with floods occur during the phenomenon high tides. |
| | Compo Santa Margherita, this area is where the college is located, it has lots of younger crowd in this area and things seem to be less expansive.
Apparently San Marco Square and Rialto Bridge are the biggest attractions in town, there are directions signs all over, but believe me, even with the signs and a map in your hand, you still get lost in Venice, which may be a good thing as you can wonder into areas that might interest you. |
