Bacharach is a tiny small village by the Rhein River, This well preserved town fortifications dating from the 14th century (built 1322-1366) comprise the old walls with many towers encircling the old town. There is an interesting walk on the battlements along the Rhine. The town contains lots of half-timbered style buildings, a typical small German town with lots of shops, B & Bs. Bacharach can be reached from Frankfurt via train with train change in Mainz. Free check luggage is available at Tourist Information for day trippers. |
