Copenhagen - a Town you'll never forget

by ginte - last update: Jun 21, 2007

...and 4ever in my heart...

Copenhagen is one of Europe's oldest and most charming capitals and was recently crowned the third best city in the world to live in. Copenhagen is more than 800 years old. Although the city might seem big enough, it's easy to do a tour through the city's medieval centre on foot.

...almost a year of living there made me fall in love with Copenhagen...

...A town where I'd love to come back again and again...

I've been living here:

August, 2002 - February, 2003.
October, 2004 - April, 2005.

And spent 10 days:
in December, 2006.

Little Mermaid

Little Mermaid

I gues it's a symbol of Copenhagen as I couldn't imagine this city without the Little Mermaid. It is always surrounded of a plenty of tourists at any period of the year and at any time of a day.

The bronze sculpture was created by the sculptor Edward Eriksen (1876 - 1959) and was given to the city of Copenhagen by Carlsberg's famous brewer Carl Jacobsen.

Actually it's not so big, as I've expected before coming to Copenhagen
/the fact is - it's called Little Mermaid, not Big Mermaid;-) Anyway Little Mermaid is worth to see after you reach it during a long and a nice walk through the canal shore.
Nyhavn

Nyhavn

The second symbol of Copenhagen. I suppose, each tourist takes a picture of Nyhavn canal :) It is a gorgeus view especialy in the sunshine and when it's warm enough for to stay longer outside. You'll see long canal shore with many nice and colourful houses, many pubs and yahts...

Have you ever seen more beautiful place for to walk through?...:)

In A Nutshell:"More than just a simple city..."

Smoking is now banned - by law - in all restaurants and all but the smallest bars But, many bars defy the law or smokers just choose light up. Those who do not wish to be passive smokers still face major difficulties in Denmark.
