walking about Milano is not too big to do some walking. There are some decent places of interest. We visited Castello Sforzesca on the Saturday morning and this was really worthwhile. It is close to the Cadorna station and the highlight is the museum (it`s all free) with works of art and artifacts from all ages. The egyptian mummies, the suits of armour and the fierce weapons are some of the attractions. |
More walking After the Castello we had an appointment with Leonardo`s last supper. You have to book and reserve a time! Fortunately for us it was "European Heritage Weekend" and this was free too! (It is usually 8 euros) Remember to hire the headphones, this provides a great narrative about the artwork. The painting is well worth seeing, in fact every dining hall should have one- it`s pure class! |
Less walking After visiting the church Santa Maria delle Grazie beside the Last Supper we walked down to Sant `Ambrogio. This is another excellent church to visit and has the remains of Saint Ambrose. There was a wedding that day and the uniforms, ceremonial swords and horses almost stole the bride`s day from her. The Milanese like to dress up! After that we toodled along to the Duomo and the Galleria to do some window shopping before heading to the bar! |
