My name is Reinhard Gruner. I spent the first 15 years of my life in Germany, and the next 33 in South Africa. I live in a quiet, green suburb of the capital, Pretoria. A have a passion for travel, unfortunately our currency has been very weak over the last few years, which made travelling very costly. Then I had the opportunity to move into a travel-related job, and since then I have had some opportunities to see more of Africa. Africa is a continent of contrasts. Every country and every city in Africa is so different. You can find some of the smartest shopping centres in Kampala, and some of the worst slums in Johannesburg. One common feature however is the friendliness of the people. If you are friendly, everyone will smile at you and help you - something I have often found lacking in central Europe. During 2004 I am planning to explore Mozambique. |
