What can I say.
Val is very very good for Skiing with loads of good lifts and linked with Tignes giving an amazing amount and variety of skiing.
In the town there is lots to do, pubs, restaurants, Clubs , shops , market days, cinemas and lots more. A great free bus services also operates, so even if not in centre of town you can get about easily.
Personally I go for the Skiing but Val is great for the apre stuff aswell.
All is not good for the wallet. A chalet holiday including transfers from UK is around 500 - 1,000GBP pp for 7 nights depending on quality of rooms and food. All that is before drinks at 5 GBP a time and all your ski lift pass and the like. What the hell, you cannot take it with you and you will love it!
All very Good but I make a few comments below.
The Sking is steep. Sometimes you feel like you could jump off the mountain and land on the church in the middle of town.
Beginners: Above the town there are some green runs and easy blues towards La Forne. I advise you get the chair and bubbles back into though. If a beginer to third year skiing you will find the runs back into town very hard especially late in the day when every other beginer is doing the same. Never say I did not warn you.. Do not stay on the Green run in town centre. Very dull and no views.
Inters: All good for you. The run into La Daie (sp) is great and Tignes offers some super fast Blues. The top of the Grande Mot is well, very high! La Forne looks dull on piste map but often nobody goes there so no lift ques and no one in the way. Mach 2 is possible!
Advanced: You already know it, but Face is fantastic. I've never Skied it the same on any day. Very steep and a challenge to complete without stopping at least onec or twice. Get the beers in!
Off Piste : Its good but I have heard lots of people getting killed!
- Pros:Excellent varied skiing
- Cons:Price, Maybe a bit steep for complete novices.
- In a nutshell:Try it and you will go back
After a days Sking and almost Ski to the door you can get yourself a Grande Marnier Hot Chocolate and a stool/chair to... more travel advice
