Maui was the second Hawaii island that we visited. Also known as The Valley Isle, it has 120 miles of shoreline and more than 80 beaches, all public domain. Having read multiple reviews on numerous websites including this one, I expected Maui to be paradise on Earth. Was it? I have to say that it came pretty close. Almost everywhere you find yourself in Maui you'll want to take a picture. "Maui No Ka Oi", you’ll see this a lot in Maui. It means “Maui’s the best” and I found this statement to be absolutely true. |
| | First of all Maui is a paradise for people who want to be entertained at every moment and can't get enough of the planned activities; there are tons of them, from luaus, any kind of boat trip that you can think of (whalewatching trip, snorkeling trip, kayaking), horseback riding, magic shows, bike tours, dinner cruises, golf, helicopter tours, fishing, surfing. Maui is definitely a very easy destination, with so many prepackaged activities, all you have to do is pick the ones you like. To each its own. Even if you're not into planned activities a trip to Maui is definitely going to be a very enjoyable one. Because despite all the development and the "Anywhere, USA", I've seen this before, but without palms" feel of some of the resorts - particularly Wailea - most of the island still has a rural and untamed feel. There are plenty of reasons for which most visitors love the island and sing its praises. White sandy beaches and crystal clear water, a scenic volcano, beautiful sunsets, good food, some of the best snorkeling anywhere, lush tropical forest with flowing streams and waterfalls, breathtaking surroundings all around. Maui is the ideal place to forget about your worries and loose yourself into a vacation that you won't forget. Maybe Maui is the perfect balance island where you can taste both rural and town life, a place where you can hop from civilization to wilderness and back again, experience nature by yourself in the morning and go dining and shopping with crowds of people in the evening. |
| | There are some must-do experiences on Maui and no vacation there is complete without them. First is seeing Haleakala volcano with its lunar landscape. Second is a road trip along the road to Hana, through the tropical forests along a beautiful coast. Third would be a day of snorkeling, which was one of the things we discovered on Maui. It wasn't a bit scary and from the beginning we enjoyed it thoroughly. You could see plenty of colorful fish through the blue crystal water and if you're luckly even some turtles. Fourth would be to discover your favourite beach, cause everyone must have a favourite. The whale-watching for humpback whales is also an interesting activity but you need to be there in the right season - December to April - for that. What's left? A lot more: watching a sunset, drinking a Mai Tai, hiking in the tropical forest ... and the list can go on for pages. The weather is pretty much the same all year so you can come at any time. |
