Local Customs: Conversions
  • Tip Rating:
  • Canadians measure temperatures with Celcius, the money is also based on a dollar (called a loonie, for the pic of a loon on the coin) however the conversion rate is different than the U.S. It took us awhile, but Katmo and I figured out this formula: If you paid $89 Canadian for your hotel room, you should wear a light jacket.

    Local Customs: Street Musicians
  • Tip Rating:
  • One of the things I miss most about Boston is all the things you encounter while walking the City. Toronto reminded me of this. I love to be walking the streets or subways and suddenly be met by a street musician. This happened several times in Toronto and only made me love the City even more.

  • As you walk through Toronto, you will see many street performers. Every type of music you can think of, and even a silver Elvis standing on a bucket and dancing. Be kind, tip these people.

Scott, that clock tower (with protruding gargoyles) is part of the very impressive Court house building. I took lots of shots of it too when I was there in October.
