Taxis: Cabbing it

Getting TO/AROUND: It's best to use the subway or walk, but sometimes if you can't figure out where you are going and need to get there quick, you may take a cab. What you have heard about NYC cabbies is most likely true. One of ours talked to himself in a language we couldn't identify for the entire ride. I can't say it was cheap, but they did get us where we needed to go.

MTA Busses: don't pay that $50 cab fare

Getting TO/AROUND: The best tip I got while planning this trip was instead of paying a $50 cab fare to get from the airport to the hotel, take a $2 bus ride on the M60. It takes about an hour and makes several stops downtown. In my case they dropped me 4 blocks from my hotel. Very nice and CHEAP!

He was probably not talking to himself....there is hardly a NYC cab driver who does not have a bluetooth (wireless headset). It is illegal to talk on your phone while driving in the city, but they all do it.
