"Rochester" Rochester by shohman

I'm torn. There are so many pros and cons of Rochester that I really don't know what to think. To be fair, my visits here are mostly confined to spending time with my fiancee's family as she has two sisters that work at the Mayo. Maybe I haven't gotten out as much here as I should in order to give a fair review, but it is what it is. This is a mostly family oriented town, not much nightlife. People are so friendly that you can sometimes imagine living here. It's the type of place where you walk down the street and see moms and dads actually spending quality time with their kids. It's also pretty conservative and could use a better art scene and maybe a pub of coffeehouse.

With the Mayo bringing in cultures from all over the world, I guess I would like to see more of that reflected in the shops and restaurants.

I'm told theres lot's of outdoor activity nearby. Bike paths, rivers, parks, etc and I hope to explore this more in the near future.

If I'm being honest, Rochester just doesn't do it for me. Not to say I didn't have a great time, I just can't imagine going here as a vacation destination. We went for a Christening and only stayed a few days.
Rochester is home of The Mayo Clinic and IBM, and apparently it's rare to meet someone here who doesn't work for one of the two. It's a pleasant town, mostly farmland with a small downtown area and not much local culture.
Still, the people were great...and so were the brats :)

• Pros:people are incredibly friendly
• Cons:if you're visiting here, there is a good chance your a patient at the Mayo
• In a nutshell:those brats sure were good.
