What better way to start a Summer day than to watch the sun rise over the Atlantic. In Maine, this is super early during the summer. We got out of bed at 5:30 in time to catch the 6 a.m. sunrise, but it was spectacular. Afterwards take a nice walk on the beach.

Palace Playland - be a kid again

This is a basic amusement park. It was great fun, although a bit painful as not all rides were exactly safe. My niece cut her leg on the bumper cars. I got a gash and a burn on the slide, and my nephew had his glasses whacked off. What's a little pain when you get to goof around like a kid again?!

Cost was $25 for an all day pass. You can also pay by the ride.

The Pier

The Pier used to host big band and jazz nusicians in the 30's - 50's. Now it is a cluster of shops, pubs and restaurants. Nothing fancy, but it was a nice place to poke around and people watch.

Bumper Cars

What great joy can a person have than ramming their loved ones, or even total strangers with a tiny electrical car? Yes, adults barely fit behind the wheel, but did that stop us? I think not. Now get out of my way!

skee-ball

want a oversized novelty comb? How about a cracked plastic mug? A stuffed puppy with plastic ears? Sorry, all those items are 18,000 tickets. Skee-ball is great fun anyway, bowl a little ball into different holes and win tickets based on the amount of points you accumulate. The tickets are then exchanged for truly crappy merchandise. Why do it? Because it's a blast!.

Old Orchard Beach has 7 miles of coastline. It's a nice place to walk, relax and people watch. Besides, you get to see French Canadians wearing tiny, tiny swimsuits. Sadly, thye are mostly overweight, cigar chomping men.
