I am so sad!
My trip is over and I am back to reality, like all the other working people in the world.
Wouldn't it be great to be able to travel throughout your life and never worry about morgage, work or bills? :-)
It's been a fun journey and I apologize for slowing down on my writing. However, hope you enjoyed the minimum that I put in.
Well, what can I say about Fiji.
It was a drastic change from the pace of the city- NYC.
I went from keeping time schedules and rushing during rush hour, to no time, no worries just be happy.
The best experience was to stay at a Fijan family. Not much of sunbathing (they are very conservative) but a lot of getting to know the culture and customs.
Anyone who is planning on going, definitely go. It's well worth the trip. Hopefully I will be able to come back some day.
Check out the more details on my Fiji travel page.
Going from relaxed to being always on the go, I am going to need a vacation after this.
I decided to join a backpacker tour bus called the Magic Bus. Well, let's say, we are out at 8am and arrive to the next destination around 4pm. Due to my limit time, I am unable to stay more than 1-2 nights at each destination. However, it is giving me a great opportunity to see many of NZ's highlights.
Check out the NZ travel page.
I thought one month, would be enough to see Australia. Well, I was definitely wrong. However, I did travel through most of the states.
Victoria: Melbourne and the beautiful Great Ocean Road.
South Australia: Pretty Adelaide and the Barossa Wine Valley.
Northern Territory: Alice Springs, Uluru, the Outback, Darwin, Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks.
New South Wales: Sydney and Byron Bay
and of course Queensland: Cairns, Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef.
After this trip, I am dead beat and need a vacation. :-)
Well, I arrived to Singapore, supposedly duing their dry season, however of course I arrived to terrential rain.
Singapore is the mecca of shopping. I have never seen so many shopping centers/malls in a small area . Anyone who loves to shop will be in heaven here. Even their SIA Hop-on tour is geared to let everyone know where the hotels and shopping centers are. However for $6 SGD it's not too bad.
Because I belong to a Servas (friendship network), I have met in Singapore at least 6 different people that are locals to the city.
It was great to get feedback of how it's like to live in Singapore. Any of you that are druggies, well if you get caught even with a small amount, you hang! Yes. it's a serious offense here. Seems more than even theft.
Singapore is definitely a place for 3-4 days. Unless of course you like to shop!
The Angkor Wat temples. Do I need to say more?
They were amazing, even for some one like me that after 2-3 hours, get tired of seeing stones and ruins.
The best thing at Siem Reap is the people. They are so friendly and they have an infectious smile. If you smile, the smile that you get back is amazing.
The town has an unique feel to it and I have to say that it will be missed.
Bangkok, well to be honest, KhaoSan Rd is an interesting place. It's definitely for the hippy style person. The clothes that they sell here caters to that crowd.
Interesting for me, but not really my type. I guess I am showing my age.
What I couldn't believe is the amount of Israeli's that walk here.
Anyway, it's an experience and I am off tomorrow for Chiang Mai.
Habla Espanol?
Well I have arrived to Granada and will be spending the next four weeks studying Spanish. So I am now back to a routine and stuck in one place. :-(
I have enjoyed the past 3 months and wished it never ended.
Granada has a uniqueness feel to it. It has the Alhambra, the Sierre Nevada (which is amazing to see with snow cap mountains) and a Muslim influence.
They still have their afternoon siesta. Where everything closes from 14:00 to 17:00. People go home to eat and take a nap. I understand why, because everything here starts late at night. Nothing starts before 20:00. Even dancing classes are at 22:30. How can people work the next day, beats me.
