"2nd Capital of United Kingdom ??????" Birmingham by chuddy1999

The picture is of the Rounda, its a local landmark.There is a lot of developement going on in Birmingham, plans were to get rid of this feature from the sixties, but after a lot of outcry it was retained. Thankfully I think. Birmingham is a working city. And all tastes are catered for here. Also being at pretty much the centre of the Uk, it has excellent Motorway Networks. Not exactly a clean city and personally I would not wish to live there anymore. But it is fine for visits to attend theatres, concerts and such. Prices a lot cheaper than London. And it is even possible to understand the accents of the locals. (I was born here, so think I can make some comments :-)

Victoria Square

Somehow Birmingham has got its hands on massive amounts of grants from the EU and government, with the result that a lot of areas have been revamped,The actual centre is almost totally pedestianized now. The basic flavour of the victorian impact has been retained and blended with modern buildings. Plenty of places to sit and chill on summer days.

Library Square

Latest thorn in the developers side is that building in the background. Its the library and they are talking about spending millions pulling it down rather than to refurbish it. I think it is an excellent building and it would be a sad loss to loose it. This is near the music college and there is always something happening in the spring and summer months, be it street theatre or exhibitions.
