Life is a journey

If you remember life before television and homes without indoor bathrooms, then you may have some idea of where my journey started.

Perhaps I can create some meager tribute to the people I've met and the places I have been. I was born shortly after Pearl Harbor was bombed. Most of my childhood was spent close to the town at one time called North Washington. A few special people may recognize the reference to Dola, Ohio.

In high school we had pen pals. When US postage stamps cost only three cents, we could write to people in far away places. The only foreign language offered in my high school was Latin!

I never heard about the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II until the late 70's. One of my graduate classmates was the daughter of parents who have lived in Manzanar. What a mind-opening experience to have met her and exchanged letters with her mother.

This is my first attempt at bringing some things together for VT. I hope some of you can find something to tickle your thinking.

I absolutely love the photo of the young Great Horn Owl! What a great thing to spy in your back yard! We have the remains of the Heart Mountain Japanese internment camp not too far from our home in Cody, Wyomning.

Hi Ken, Glad to know you're an extra miler. What's your county count now? I love the baby owl. We had baby Broad Tailed Hawks in our back yard this spring.

The owl is so cool. The most we ever get in our backyard is baby rabbits and a fat groundhog and sometimes deer.
