Windsor - My home town

OK, I have to admit...

Fireworks June 23, 2004 - Windsor
Windsor is not the most interesting place in the world to visit but if you're going to visit I recommend coming during the last two weeks of June for the International Freedom Festival. You'll get to see one of the largest fireworks display in all of North America and you'll get a chance to experience the diversity that exists in this small international city.
During the two weekends of this festival, many of the local communities / community centres celebrate their culture & ethnicity with their own festivals. Every year more and more commmunities join the celebrations.
You'll have the opportunity to visit each location (scattered throughout the city) and enjoy the music, dance and food.
Some of the festivals include:
Greek, German, Italian, Caribbean, Serbian, Chinese, and many, many others that I can't think of right now.
International Freedom Fest Fireworks Jun 23, 2004
The International Freedom Festival is held in Windsor every year and Fireworks Night is generally held on the 2nd last Wednesday of June. It's my favourite 'holiday' in Windsor. Every year (minus about 3 since my family came to Windsor) I've headed over to the Detroit River to watch (and hear!) the fireworks. It's one of the biggest fireworks display in North America. When I was a kid, my mom would walk my sister and I over to the River in the early afternoon to save our place on the riverbank to watch the big show.
This year I walked down to the river with my fiance and his parents for the display which was held 3 days before our wedding day. It was a very memorable night to follow so many before it and to preceed so many to come.

Pros:"home, big bar scene, a part of Canada, across the river from the U.S., the Freedom Festival"
Cons:"flat, not much in the way of activities"
In A Nutshell:"It's home and that means it's the place where the best people in the world are gathered. :)"

Too bad we didn't meet earlier, you could have joined our VT meeting in June. BTW I collect photos of doorways and windows.
