Our trip began on Christmas Day 2004. We arrived in San Jose with car rental reservations (reconfirmed two days prior to arrival), only to find out that "there are no cars". "What do you mean 'there are no cars?'.
"No cars".
"But here's my faxed confirmation."
"We can put you on the waiting list for a car".
"How long will that be?"
"Maybe tomorrow afternoon."
Needless to say, we weren't too happy about this, seeing as we had a hotel reservation for that night in Arenal, which was approx. 3 hrs away.
But on vacation, and especially in Costa Rica, you just laugh it off.
