i remember the rain on the cobblestone streets
tat-ta-tat tat, like soldiers with their guns
filling my ears with the shells as they retreat
sound becomes a blur like a shell from the beach

i remember the rain falling cold upon my lips
biting them in pain knowing no other way to resist
shaking without control, a marionette in a twist
numb with the taste, of blood mixed with a kiss

i remember the rain how it soaked me through
no coat nor hat protect, dampness settled in
hearing a voice, organs screaming 'Where's a loo?'
feeling empty and forgotten, not even capable of sin

i remember the rain dragging me down from my feet
struggling forward on, much like prisoners on the run
loosing my step only to come crashing down
overcoming me with gray, all senses draining of fun

i remember the rain long ago on that Montreal day
standing to my feet, staring, looking for the sun
wind blowing strong as the clouds fought to stay
walking alone, i smiled, I was in Montreal for fun
