Restaurant Name: Klosterhof
Established in 1936, Klosterhof is housed in an old Monastery, and we enjoyed a tasty lunch there one day. We came across it and were tempted in by the traditional looking menu and the sunny beer garden. The large outdoor area was filled with lunching office workers, as was the character-filled interior.
Favorite Dish: We settled at a large wooden table and ordered a Romer Pilsner from the very friendly waitress. The menu had plenty of stodgy options and we decided on a sort of 'Bubble & Squeak' type dish with schnitzel, and a beef dish with cabbage and dumplings. The B&S was really tasty, and I ended up taking over this meal from Alex as I wasn't so keen on the flavour of the beef dish or the very gluggy dumplings. The food was very filling, the beer was nice and cold and the setting was lovely. Recommended at least for a drink on a sunny day.

Restaurant Name: Baseler Eck
After a very early start that morning, and a day of sight-seeing, on our first night in Frankfurt we didn't want to venture too far from our hotel for dinner. We came across a busy place located just around the corner from our hotel, called Baseler Eck. The restaurant was full of content looking people, and we were pleased when they were able to fit us in. We did however have to share a table with two other people who spent the time laughing at us every time I took a photo of our food.
Favorite Dish: Service was pretty abrupt, though they were busy, and we seemed to be pretty much the only non-German speaking people in the restaurant. To eat I just had a Veal Schnitzel with potatoes, and Alex had Veal steak with mushrooms and pasta. The food was entirely edible, though nothing amazing. I liked the lively atmosphere of the place though, and loved the wall that was filled with stickers - including now defunct airlines, and Smurfette, amongst others.

Restaurant Name: Römer Bembel
Romer Bembel is a bar and restaurant located smack in the middle of the beautiful Romerberg (central square). Prior to our trip I had read that it was surprisingly un-touristy, so we decided to brave it for drinks and dinner one evening. Not the cheapest option, but enjoyable. We chose a table out on the square, as the evening was not too cool (and there were heaters as well). We ordered a couple of small (half litre) beers and relaxed for a while, enjoying some people watching in the square.
Favorite Dish: As the light faded it was time to eat before I got too tipsy (I'm a cheap drunk!), so we ordered from the interesting menu - a Filet steak with potatoes and herb butter, and a Port knuckle with cabbage and of course potatoes. A couple of glasses of red wine were in order as well, as was a slice of Apple Strudel for dessert. Thankfully it was a 20 minute walk back to our hotel.

Restaurant Name: Das Wirtshaus
After a morning of shopping, sustenance was in order, and the mild autumn day meant I was keen to dine alfresco. Wandering down pedestrianised Grosse Bockenheimer Strasse, we decided to stop at Das Wirtshaus as they had an available table outside and the prices looked reasonable. Lunch was in full swing, and it took a while for us to get the waiters attention to order. Service continued to be very slow throughout our meal, but at least it was friendly.
Favorite Dish: More beer was in order of course - well, we were on holiday in Germany. We accompanied it with some tasty and fattening Breaded Veal and chips/potatoes. I am very glad that I don't live in Germany else I would be the size of a house!

Restaurant Name: Dinea
If you are shopping on Zeil and are in need of a quick lunch, pop up to the 7th floor of the Galeria Kaufhof (department store) and check out the food hall. There are all different types of foods and drinks available. Grab a tray, wander around and select your meal, then do to the central tills to pay.
Favorite Dish: However, the best thing about eating here is the outdoor seating terrace which has great views over Frankfurt. A cheap place to relax over lunch with a panoramic outlook. Popular though, so you may have to hover for a table for a while. There is, however, plenty of indoor seating as well.
