In July 2008 we stayed in Lausanne for two nights. I had originally wanted to stay in Montreux as it sounded nicer, but we couldn't find accommodation there as our visit coincided with the annual Jazz festival.
Lausanne actually turned out to be a good base for us and an interesting city. I liked it. The old town sits on a hill, with an impressive cathedral at the highest point. Below the old town, beyond the station, is glimmering Lake Geneva with the alps as a backdrop. |

Zvrlj Tue Dec 30, 2008 15:37 UTC Done! Thank you... BTW, we have probably been in Lausanne and Montreux at the same time :-) + Happy New Year! | HORSCHECK Sun Aug 17, 2008 14:18 UTC Sue, another gorgeous page of your trip to Switzerland. Your "lake action" sounds at least as exhausting than hiking 90 minutes downwards in the Swiss Alps. *winkygrin* | toonsarah Tue Aug 12, 2008 17:19 UTC Another great Swiss page Sue, and as always your restaurant tips left me weak with hunger. Chris would love the Pizzeria Boccalino too, despite the silly names - a place with 100 of his favourite dish to choose from would keep him happy for days :-) |
