Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is a small Welsh village with a ridiculously long name.
Located in Northern Wales, there is nothing much to see here, but everyone who drives nearby, us included, stops in to take photos of the crazy name!
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch means 'St Mary's Church in the Hollow of the White Hazel near a Rapid Whirlpool and the Church of St Tysilio near the Red Cave'. The name was invented to attract tourists, and it worked. |

At junior school in London I had a teacher who was born within about five miles of here. | rwlittle Sun May 21, 2006 23:06 UTC A mouthful, that! | HORSCHECK Wed May 10, 2006 17:34 UTC I came across this lovely town by train, but unfortuntaly the train didin't stop.
